Introduction to Rowing Course

Interested in taking up rowing?

Rowing offers significant health, fitness and well-being benefits for our members. Medway Towns Rowing Club offers Introduction to Rowing Courses to get you on the water as part of a crew.

The course consists of 6 weeks held on Sunday morning and Thursday evenings where you will receive coaching and instruction on dry land and water rowing skills. The course cost is £60.

Rowing is a physical sport, we handle boats in and out of the river and use the tidal River Medway. To be able to participate safely you will need to be free from injury, capable of swimming 50m unaided in cold water, and can complete 2km on a rowing machine within a reasonable time.

For more detail about what you will expect to learn, please refer to the Guide for Students.

Interested? please get in touch. We will look to answer any questions and advise on course dates and times.

Junior Rowing: year 9 and up

We offer rowing for juniors from year 9 up (turning 14 during the academic year). We coach from beginners and upwards, with the aim to get them to British Rowing racing if desired. We require all juniors to be strong swimmers, able to swim 50 meters in light clothing and 5 meters underwater.

The club adheres to British Rowing and Medway Child Safeguarding protocols. DBS checked coach and committee members are available to oversee rowing activity for younger rowers.
